LITTLE CREATIVES ART CLASS - WEEK 4.

Little Creatives Art Classes are held every Thursday
at the Tree House Cafe at Wentworth Point.

Week 4: Portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer 1 by Gustav Klimt 1907

Gleaming glamour

The gold that you see here isn’t paint but gold leaf, fragile sheets of real gold. As Klimt stuck it into his canvas, it wrinkled into beautiful textures.

Klimt used oil paint for the figure and the colours in her decorative dress. He loved to play with patterns and shapes arranged in a detailed patchwork style. Working like this was slow, and the portrait took almost three years. But Klimt didn’t mind- he enjoyed painting this glamorous lady!
