Children's Holiday Botanical Illustration Workshop at The Cafe Tree House, Wentworth Point.
Today we had an amazing time observing beautiful blooms from @petalpostsyd. Petal Post is a flower subscription that allows you to enjoy affordable market fresh seasonal flowers; all Australian grown, delivered direct to your door. The best thing I love about this subscription is how it comes with all the flower info and how to care tips. I was able to teach the children the names of the flowers as we drew - Lisianthus, Snap Dragon, Veronica, Misty and a couple of dried roses I had at home. We talked about how all flowers looked different just like us and as Mini Botanical Illustrators we had a big mission to capture all the details. We went through the differences between botanical art, botanical illustration and flower painting and we got to explore different mediums from pencil, coloured pencil, charcoal to watercolours. The children arranged their own floral vase too. I think the best thing about teaching kids is hearing the children laugh, their unpredictable questions, watching the children learn and seeing them smile because they are having fun!
